The New York Times reports that the American Civil LIberties Union has joined in a lawsuit against the Dover, Pa., school board, claiming that the board’s decision to teach “intelligent design” theory violates students’ religious rights. Intelligent design, considered by many to be a new version of creationism, has stirred controversy ever since the Dover district became the nation’s first to require the theory be taught in high school biology classes.
