The aim of the Maine Student Web Design Awards Program is to encourage Maine middle and high school students to explore, experience, and one day enter the “knowledge economy” in Maine. Students in sixth through 12th grades are eligible to design a web site with a theme or subject that relates to education, community, history, the arts, the environment, wellness, business, sports, recreation, games, music, nature, animals, science, mathematics, family, or the state of Maine. All sites must abide by all copyright standards. Awards in this third year of competition include iPods, laptops, tower computers, and more. In the past, iMacs and various software applications have been featured as prizes. Students under the age of 13 must get their parents’ permission to enter the contest. Students are encouraged to work in groups.
