The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the man named superintendent of a large suburban Milwaukee district with a $70 million budget has strong ties to technology in education. Phillip J. Ertl, the former superintendent of Kiel School District, had a technology-rich resume that impressed the Wauwatosa School District’s board. Among his achievements at Kiel were the American Association of School Administrators’ 2005 President’s Technology Award and a $350,000 grant for a virtual charter school. Ertl, 39, is also an advocate of paperless board meetings.
