The State Program Improvement Grants for Children with Disabilities help state education agencies and their partners in reforming and improving their systems for providing education, early intervention, and transition services for children with disabilities. The program also supports systems for professional development, technical assistance, and dissemination of knowledge about best practices to improve academic achievement for children with disabilities. Funds may be used to support the training of special-education and regular education teachers and administrators to effectively use and integrate technology into curricula and instruction, including training to improve the ability to collect, manage, and analyze data to improve teaching, decision-making, school improvement efforts, and accountability. ED is making available approximately $24 million for new grants. Awards will typically range from $530,000 to $2.2 million each.
