Tutoring industry raking in the bucks, thanks to NCLB

The New York Times reports that one of the biggest beneficiaries of the No Child Left Behind law is the after-school tutoring industry, which stands to become a $2 billion-a-year business due to the injection of federal funds–and without significant oversight. Companies are so eager to get a piece of the $1,997-per-child funding that they are even offering gifts to parents who sign their children up for tutoring services.
