Microsoft planning to counter ‘threat’ from Adobe/Macromedia

cNet’s reports that Microsoft now sees Adobe as a prime competitor, particularly in the wake of the announcement that it will purchase Macromedia. Microsoft plans to counter Adobe’s dominance in the image-editing and digital document software market with new tools it has dubbed Acrylic and Metro. Microsoft is also concerned that Macromedia Flash is a threat to Windows applications–a view Macromedia calls “ridiculous.”
