To improve meteorology instruction in K-12 classrooms, the National Weather Association each year offers five or more grants of $500 each to K-12 teachers. Selected teachers may use the funds to take an accredited course in atmospheric sciences, attend a relevant workshop or conference, or purchase scientific materials or equipment for the classroom. Requests for equipment and supplies must state the items required and how they will be used to enhance weather studies, how many students and teachers will be involved, and whether this is a new project or part of an ongoing effort. Applications are available online.
