This program is intended to help rural educators teach students about cultural diversity and understanding. The National Geographic Society has a special interest in supporting teachers in Idaho and Maine. Additionally, education on human migration is of particular interest, including professional development for teachers in cultural geography, projects encouraging community or cultural awareness and participation, hands-on field experiences directly involving students and teachers learning about different cultures, and classroom, school, or district-wide efforts that support cultural education.
