The Wall Street Journal, in a story carried by the Ventura County Star of Ventura, Calif., reports that lower prices for laptop computers are spurring more college students to buy laptops. Although the difference in cost between and laptop and desktop used to be prohibitive for many college students, that is no longer the case. As a result, nearly 75 percent of all college-age students poised to buy a new computer are planning to purchase a laptop. Four years ago, that number was less than 20 percent.
