The Portsmouth Herald of Portsmouth, N.H., reports that the local school board has decided to reinstate the position of district technology director after having eliminated it last year following the previous director’s retirement. Administrators recognized that the district could not survive without a person holding this job, so the board freed up more than $75,000 to pay for a new hire. The district’s next director will have a one-year contract, as the district still must come up with funding beyond the 2005-06 school year.
