The Daily Siftings Herald of Arkadelphia, Ark., reports on the growth of distance learning initiatives at the local high school. Arkadelphia High students in French II class are now receiving online instruction from a teacher in Hot Springs. The school was able to install its high-tech equipment after receiving a grant from the state of Arkansas, which is also paying for some of the connectivity costs. Arkadelphia students are also using the equipment to receive AP credit from a local technical college and participate in classes at that college without having to be on campus.
