The Los Angeles Times reports college sports coaches are taking advantage of the latest technologies, particularly text messaging, to communicate with recruits at times when NCAA rules prohibit telephone contact. Major college sports programs are giving their coaches Blackberrys, Treos, and other devices so they can keep in touch with their tech-savvy recruits. The NCAA currently has no restrictions against text messaging and eMail, although it is possible these rules will have to be changed to keep up with new technologies.
