The New York Times reports that college admissions officers who in the past might have suspected fraud or help from a tutor in an applicant’s essay now have the ability to check that student’s writing ability against what he or she wrote on the essay portion of the new SAT. The College Board makes it possible for schools to download essays from its web site. Comparisons of these writing samples to the application essay could make the difference between one or another student being admitted. (Note: This site requires registration.)
