Stateline.org reports on a new advocacy group called First Class Education, which is working to change state laws that govern how schools and districts may spend their funding. The group wants school administrators to be responsible for showing that at least 65 percent of all operating budgets goes to classroom expenses instead of administrative support. The group also calls for higher teacher salaries and more computers in classrooms. At present only four states can claim to exceed the group’s 65 percent spending goal.
