In the T+L² exhibit hall, hundreds of educational technology companies were on hand to demonstrate the latest products and services for use in schools. Here’s a look at some of the innovations on display in the content and curriculum management category this year:

Open Text Corp., a provider of Enterprise Content Management software, released a new software program called FirstClass ED (which stands for Educational Development). The new program reportedly helps schools create virtual learning communities that include online tools for automating classroom assignments and workflow, managing student activities, and sharing, authoring, and deploying classroom curriculum. “The power of FirstClass ED lies in its ability to enhance learning, improve student outcomes, and deliver the resources of an entire extended learning organization to the classroom, thus providing teachers with the ability to better meet the unique needs of each individual student,” said Cameron Forlong, director of eLearning solutions for the FirstClass division of Open Text, in a statement.

PLATO Learning, a provider of computer-based and eLearning solutions for kindergarteners through adult learners, recently announced an agreement to deliver K-12 curriculum, online curriculum management, and professional development services to Missoula County, Mont., public schools. The agreement is the result of a federal earmark coming from the office of Republican Sen. Conrad Burns. Missoula County will incorporate online curriculum and management tools to supplement core instruction across their nine elementary, three middle, and five high schools. “PLATO Learning provided us with a solution that could work with students across the skill continuum–from those falling behind and needing additional support to those in gifted and accelerated programs,” said Cheryl Wilson, assistant superintendent.
