American Institutes for Research reports that a new study challenges conventional wisdom regarding the math performance of U.S. students. The study found that U.S. students in 4th and 8th grade perform consistently below most of their peers around the world, and that this trend continues into high school. It was previously thought that U.S. students outperformed their peers in 4th and 8th grade, with performance declining sharply in high school.
