The awards recognize exemplary K-12 teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. Winners will have the chance to join the network of Presidential Awardees. In even-numbered years, the awards are given to K-6 teachers. In odd-numbered years, teachers in grades 7-12 are eligible. Teachers must be nominated prior to filling out an application; no self-nominations are accepted.
