The New York Times reports that eight years after settling a benchmark antitrust case, Windows is again stifling innovation–at Microsoft itself. Last week, Microsoft announced that Windows Vista would be delayed until January, which means the release will miss the holiday shopping season. In addition to causing problems to retailers, consumers were looking forward to the chance to upgrade from Windows XP, which is now five years old.
