LeadAmerica, a national youth leadership organization that helps empower and educate young leaders, has provided more than $100,000 in teacher grants and scholarships for students. “Leadership can make important differences in the lives of teenagers – in their academic and personal performance, in their acceptance to the college of their choice, and in their level of focus, passion, and purpose,” said Chris Salamone, founder and executive director of LeadAmerica. Through the LeadAmerica Foundation, 37 teachers were selected out of 150 applicants to be awarded nearly $12,000 in grants to support leadership education in their classrooms. In addition to the direct financial aid provided to students, 100 educators each received $1,000 scholarships that they can award to one or more students to defray their tuition when attending a LeadAmerica enrichment program.
