The Washington Post reports that the Philadelphia City Council has unanimously approved a plan to provide wireless internet network access across all 135 square miles of the city. If the plan is implemented by its target date of third-quarter 2007, Philadelphia will be the first major city to have its own city-wide wireless network. Under the 10-year contract, EarthLink will build, operate, and maintain the network.
