(Atlanta, Ga.–Aug. 2)–Promethean, a global leader in interactive learning technology, continues its international market penetration with the selection of its Activclassroom solutions to deliver the Secretariat of Public Education’s Enciclomedia digitized interactive content to rural and urban classrooms in the Mexican states of Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Quintana Roo and Yucatan.

“We are proud to be part of Mexico’s historic Enciclomedia project,” said Promethean CEO Stephen Jury. “From the largest district-wide installation in America to a city-wide installation in New Zealand and now adoption in Mexico, educators around the world are embracing the Promethean approach to interactive learning,” Jury said.

Promethean’s installation of its interactive whiteboards by partner Inteltech is part of the first phase of the ambitious national program to bring together digitized interactive content and technologies to rural and urban classrooms throughout Mexico. In addition to the interactive whiteboard installations completed in Aguascalientes, Promethean was selected by educators in Chiapas, Quintana Roo and Yucatan for 7,000 more fifth and sixth grade classrooms.

Promethean’s Activclassrooms are in use in more than 70 countries. In March, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Helen Clark announced the first city-wide interactive whiteboard implementation in that country. ActivboardNZ will project manage, supply and install Promethean Activclassroom Systems for every school in Invercargill, New Zealand’s southernmost city, with each school receiving between two and 18 Activboard systems in a project which also includes comprehensive training and professional development programs.

“When considering a partner for this project, the Invercargill Licensing Trust board considered the companies’ enthusiasm for the project, their strength, education focus and track record. As well as the teaching and learning software supplied with the boards Promethean’s caliber of the training and professional development programs were key considerations. ActivboardNZ came out clearly ahead and we look forward to a long working relationship with them,” said Alan Dennis, president of ILT, which funded the program. The ILT selection process also included a shootout between Promethean and Smart which confirmed for the ILT: “Teachers prefer Activboards.”

In the U.S., faced with engaging the attention of today’s tech-savvy students, metro Atlanta Forsyth County Schools in Georgia chose to fight technology with technology by installing the latest interactive learning equipment in all of its 1,500 classrooms district-wide, making it the U.S.’ largest district-wide interactive learning technology implementation.

Promethean was also recently selected by Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) as its provider of interactive whiteboards, assessment devices and ancillary collaborative components for the new generation of Dell cross-curriculum Intelligent Classrooms” for K-12 schools.
