(Calgary, Alberta–July 5)–SMART Technologies Inc. announces support for five additional languages in the latest version of SynchronEyes® classroom management software for the Windows® operating system. The added languages are North American Spanish, Italian, German, European Spanish and Chinese (simplified), which brings the total number of supported languages to seven. Users can also work in English or French. With SynchronEyes classroom management software on their computer, teachers can view students’ computer screens, monitor activities, block access to certain applications or the Internet, or even lock all students’ computers and keyboards. Teachers can also broadcast their screen, or any student screen, to everyone in the class.

In addition to supporting five new languages, the updated version offers more advanced quiz statistics, such as mode and standard deviations of quiz scores. The software also enables marked quizzes to be sent back to students automatically. To facilitate in-class collaboration, teachers can assign students to groups, create polls and chat sessions, and conduct tests with automatic marking. Using the File Transfer feature, materials and assignments can be distributed with the click of a mouse.

“SMART products are used in classrooms around the world, many of which are multilingual,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s president and co-CEO. “This update to SynchronEyes classroom management software will help teachers around the world reach and guide more students in the language of their choice.”

Pass control to a student: Teachers can choose students to demonstrate a concept or example by handing over control during the teacher broadcast.

Expanded Internet management functions: Teachers can restrict access to selected websites or start all students on the same website. Blocking rules have also been added to ensure complete student-computer control.

Quiz statistics: Teachers can now calculate advanced statistics for quiz results, including elapsed time per student, quiz score median, mode, range, standard deviation and the percentage of students who answered each question correctly.

Import Quiz Wizard: Teachers can import data from existing text files and images into the Quiz Wizard. They can add mathematical symbols and bullets, alter fonts and colors, and change paragraph styles.
