(Fort Lauderdale, Florida–August 9, 2006)–Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration solutions for the real-time organization, announced today that the Global Development Learning Network (GDLN), a worldwide partnership of independent learning centers established by the World Bank, will use Elluminate Live!® Academic EditionT on an experimental basis for training and collaboration among GDLN Affiliates in selected countries around the world. By applying distance learning tools and services, GDLN Affiliates enable organizations, teams, and individuals around the world to communicate, share knowledge, and learn from each other’s experiences in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The GDLN will start using Elluminate Live!to train over 100 affiliates located in 80 countries worldwide on its new Activity Management System, an application used to schedule and coordinate knowledge sharing and learning activities across the network. In addition, the GDLN network is being used in conjunction with Elluminate’s live eLearning and web collaboration environment to enable dynamic interaction for constituents taking part in initiatives such as those provided by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Fellowship. The organization recently coordinated a program that used Elluminate Live!to augment existing videoconferencing technology, enabling Afghan government officials to interact online with coaches and mentors in five countries to help build leadership and management skills.
“Most of our affiliates are located in developing countries, where high-speed Internet connectivity is not always available, said Atem Ramsundersingh, Head of the GDLN Secretariat of the World Bank in Washington DC. We want to learn more about the extent to which Elluminate provides a reliable low-bandwidth, platform-independent solution that enables GDLN Affiliates and clients to communicate and collaborate with each other, even those in the most remote areas or secondary cities and towns that only have access to dial-up connections.”
“This is the first time that we enhanced the videoconferences with an online tool,” said Humaira Kamal, Special Fellow at UNITAR. “The audio-web conference has proved to be a most wonderful and flexible tool that I think will become more and more important to the function of the Fellowship.”
“We are extremely proud that the World Bank Global Distance Learning Network is using Elluminate Live!to increase communication, knowledge sharing, and collaboration on a global level,” said Maurice Heiblum, President of Elluminate USA, Inc. “Elluminate Live!is designed to ensure that no user is left behind, even those in remote, rural areas or third-world countries where Internet connectivity is less than optimal.”
