Kan. district buys 2,300 Palm devices

Boston.com reports that Palm Inc. announced that the Olathe Unified School District of Olathe, Kansas has purchased 2,300 hundred Palm TX handhelds, with as many keyboards, for its high schools. This purchase nearly doubles the district’s investment in handheld devices. Financial terms weren’t disclosed, but the TX currently retails for $299. Rita Lyon, the executive director of technology for the district says: “The cost of laptops was out of our reach, but Palm’s handhelds justified the cost.” The school purchased the units through Palm’s Education Purchase Plan… (Note: This site requires free registration.)
