A recent report in the Wall Street Journal exposes the dangers of more than a dozen so-called social-networking web sites, including MySpace.com, and others. The article finds that despite additional protections several of these sites make it possible for strangers to rendezvous with unsuspecting youths, opening the door for criminal activities and other abuses, and raising questions about what can be done to make the internet safer for teens.
