The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that just two weeks before classes are to begin, Henrico County, Virginia has learned that because of a recall, it must replace the batteries in almost half of the school system’s 15,800 Dell laptops. This is the second time in the past year that the school system has had to replace laptop batteries because of a Dell recall. Officials learned that because of the recall, they will need to replace 7,000 batteries in laptops issued. In a program which began in 2001 with high schools, Henrico County now issues laptops to every middle and high school student, as well as every teacher.
