The Washington Post reports that Breakaway Games, Ltd. released the final version of Incident Commander on the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Incident Commander is a training simulator game that gives players a lead role in managing crisis situations ranging from terrorist attacks to natural disasters. Breakaway Games developed the game with an investment of $350,000 from the Justice Department and $1.5 million of its own funds. As part of the agreement with the Justice Department, the game will be released free of charge to municipal emergency departments, as most cities do not have the funds to conduct real-world training exercises. The game trains players in how to build a budget and start a commissary under United States guidelines. The game is not currently for sale commercially, however, a public version could become available in the future… (Note: This site requires free registration.)
