PORTLAND, Ore., August 30, 2006–Knowledge Learning Corporation, a prominent national education company delivering before- and after-school educational enrichment programs through its School Partnerships Division, today announced its acquisition of Education Station, LLC, one of the leading providers of No Child Left Behind supplemental educational services. The acquisition, from Catapult Learning, LLC, brings together two of the nation’s leading education companies with decades of expertise in partnering with schools to deliver high-quality, proven and effective supplemental instruction and educational enrichment programs.

“With the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act five years ago, our nation made a renewed commitment to eliminating our country’s achievement gap and giving all students the high-quality education that they deserve. By expanding the services we can offer to our school partners, we will increase our ability to positively touch the lives of many more students and continue to support their long-term educational needs,” said Marcy Suntken, president of Knowledge Learning Corporation School Partnerships. “Our commitment to students, schools and communities is to serve as a trusted resource and educational partner, so that all students receive the best possible education. Bringing Education Station into the Knowledge Learning Corporation family helps us achieve this goal, and expands the way we can positively impact the lives of thousands of students.”

Mrs. Suntken will lead the division’s expansion with support from senior executives, including Nina Rees, the former Assistant Deputy Secretary for Innovation and Improvement at the U.S. Department of Education. With Mrs. Suntken’s years of experience managing public-private partnerships and Mrs. Rees’ policy expertise and vast knowledge of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the division will be uniquely positioned to support the growing demand by schools, parents and students for research-based, supplemental educational services–specifically NCLB tutoring services.

As a trusted resource and committed partner to over 700 schools nationwide, Knowledge Learning Corporation School Partnerships provides a diverse set of programs. In addition to its supplemental educational services offering, Champions Tutoring Program, the company also partners with educators to deliver before- and after-school extended learning; extended day kindergarten; preschool/pre-k programs; camps during school breaks and over summer vacation; science adventures and employee child care centers for school customers. The addition of Education Station and its parent involvement program, Home Connection, will strengthen and support Knowledge Learning Corporation School Partnerships’ existing services.

Founded in 2004, Education Station has grown to be one of the leading providers of NCLB tutoring services. Last year, it served 29,000 students in more than 80 school districts. An approved NCLB tutoring provider in more then 32 states, Education Station has experienced double-digit enrollment growth since its inception.

“Growing Education Station into an industry leader has been a phenomenal experience and I am delighted that we have found the single best home for the company. Knowledge Learning Corporation and Education Station are both grounded in the same core educational practices of motivating students to learn, training teachers, and encouraging family involvement to achieve optimal student success,” said Jeffrey Cohen, president, Catapult Learning, LLC. “I’m confident under Marcy Suntken’s leadership the quality educational services students, parents and schools have come to know will continue to thrive.”
