CNET reports that according to the NPD Group, Microsoft’s foray in the computer security industry has not only made PC protection more affordable, but more comprehensive as well. Analysts believe that with Microsoft’s Windows Live OneCare, the company has forced competitors to reevaluate their own bundling strategy and include features instead of selling them separately. NPD analyst Chris Swenson agrees with this assessment, adding: “Microsoft is really shaking up this whole market in terms of pricing.” According to NPD data, in July, pricing for PC security suites and pc-care packages hit a two-year low at $54.57, with pricing facing a continued downward trend.
