“Monster Storms” is the latest initiative from the JASON Project, a provider of online, fee-based curricula for middle school teachers and students. A nonprofit subsidiary of the National Geographic Society, the JASON Project offers multimedia, interdisciplinary science expeditions that give students the chance to participate in real, standards-based research directed by scientists. Through its new “Monster Storms” curriculum, students can chase tornadoes with a National Geographic emerging explorer and learn about the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s latest technology to forecast the path of hurricanes. The curriculum will be available this fall on a pilot basis; pricing had yet to be determined as of press time.
