The Center on Education Policy, an independent, national advocate for public education, has released a new report on facts concerning the U.S. education system–and how things have changed and will continue to change over time. The center says its “Public Education Primer: Basic (and Sometimes Surprising) Facts about the U.S. Education System” provides a comprehensive picture of the nation’s public schools by attempting to answer key demographic and funding issues. The content of the report includes information about who today’s students are and where they are located, discussions on who controls public education, and information on how public schools are funded. The report also discusses how well are students achieving, the state and character of the public teaching force, and other services provided by public schools
