The New York Times reports that a new course at Arizona State University entitled “Entertainment and Technology” is the first step of a new program to grant an undergraduate certificate, and eventually, a Master’s degree in what the university dubs the field of “EnterTech”–where entertainment meets technology. The idea behind the course and program is to prepare young professions who want to work in the rapidly changing Hollywood environment. Peter Lehman–director of the film and media studies program–is one of two professors who teach the course. Lehman says that the “dominance of 35-millimeter film” is drawing to a close, and that we “need a new kind of person in this industry who understands that entertainment and technology are converging, and who is fluent in the concepts and the language of both.” … (Note: This site requires free registration.)
