Dr. John E. Deasy, Chief Executive Officer of Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), will host three public hearings this month to seek public input concerning the system’s educational needs and priorities for the next fiscal year’s operating budget. The public’s feedback will be considered by the CEO when developing his FY2008 Proposed Operating Budget.

“Every member of the community shares the responsibility for successful schools and I encourage our many stakeholders to share with us their concerns and interests as we begin this process,” Dr. Deasy said. “The public can provide valuable input that is needed to align budget priorities with student needs.”

Parents and community members interested in speaking at the public hearings should call 301-952-6382 before 4 p.m. to register on the day of the hearing they plan to attend. The three public hearings are scheduled as follows:

*Wednesday, September 13, 7 p.m. Oxon Hill Staff Development Center, 7711 Livingston Road, Oxon Hill

*Tuesday, September 19, 7 p.m. Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School, 12650 Brooke Lane, Upper Marlboro

Wednesday, September 27, 7 p.m. Eleanor Roosevelt High School, 7601 Hanover Parkway, Greenbelt

PGCPS will also use an online survey to gain additional input from the public about priorities for next year’s operating budget. That survey will be posted on the system’s web site at www.pgcps.org.
