Alexandria, VA–October 3–As part of the National School Boards Association’s celebration of the 20th T+L Conference in Dallas, Nov. 8-10, a nationwide search is under way for 20 emerging education technology leaders.

“Throughout the history of education technology innovation, the real successes have been led by educators with the vision, passion, and human spirit to embrace new tools and explore how they could become a critical component in helping to transform teaching and learning,” said NSBA’s Director of Education Technology Ann Flynn.

The search, named “20 to Watch,” seeks to identify 20 emerging leaders who, like today’s education technology pioneers, cross all job titles and district sizes. According to Flynn, “We’re particularly anxious to identify educators who could still be working in the field in 20 years when T+L celebrates its 40th anniversary! More importantly, we hope this program will encourage educators to reflect on the hard work and commitment of their colleagues whose education technology efforts have not yet been recognized on a national level. This is a chance for an individual to share their own accomplishments or promote the work of younger colleagues.”

Classroom, building, and district leaders will be considered as well as those individuals making exceptional contributions in state departments of education. The nomination form is online at and closes October 20, 2006. This group of educators will be announced at the T+L Conference and showcased in future NSBA education technology articles.

More than 2,000 school district leaders, technology staff, teachers, and principals are expected to attend NSBA’s T+L Conference at the Dallas Convention Center from November 8-10, 2006.
