PRINCETON, NJ — (MARKET WIRE) — October 18, 2006 — ETS, creators of the widely recognized Praxis” series of teacher licensing assessments, has launched Praxis” eBooks, a new line of downloadable test preparation materials.
The new eBook format allows Praxis test takers to download electronic versions of select Praxis Study Guides and Practice Tests for immediate use — and at a lower price than the printed test preparation materials. The downloadable Study Guides are priced at $22.95 versus the print versions, which average $30 plus shipping and handling. The downloadable Practice Tests cost $13.95.
“The eBook format not only allows test takers to begin using the preparation material immediately upon downloading, but they also purchase only the materials related directly to the test they are taking,” says Mari Pearlman, Senior Vice President of ETS’s Higher Education Division. “For example, a test taker could download a Study Guide or Practice Test when they register for a test or when they find themselves with some time to prepare to take it.”
The Praxis” eBook Study Guides include content outlines, authentic test questions, with answers and detailed answer rationales, as well as valuable test-taking strategies and helpful hints on how to decipher and answer the different types of questions candidates will encounter on the test. The Praxis” eBook Practice Tests are full-length tests that have been retired after being used in actual test administrations. They include scoring keys and score conversion charts to give candidates an idea of how they will score on the actual test. Practice Tests also include information outlining how the test is structured, what topics are covered, and what kinds of questions test takers will see on the real exam.
Each Praxis eBook may be viewed and printed from up to two computers. Users will enjoy unlimited search capability, ease of navigation, expandable diagrams and charts, and more.
In addition to making test prep more easily accessible and less expensive, Praxis eBook Study Guides are being split into single-subject guides. Test takers benefit by only paying for the materials they need.
The first four eBooks to be released cover the ParaPro Assessment and Fundamental Subjects tests. Several additional test preparation titles are expected to be available as eBooks by the end of 2006, including the fall 2006 release of seven new Practice Tests:
— Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge
— Social Studies: Content Knowledge
— Biology: Content Knowledge
— Business Education
— English Language, Literature and Composition: Content Knowledge
— Elementary Education: Content Knowledge
— Special Education: Application of Core Principles.
