Chicago, IL (Nov. 15, 2006)–New Dimension Media, a Questar company, is launching the latest CCC! Video on Demand in November for introduction in schools in January, 2007. It is the only video on demand system to integrate with iTunes, allowing students and teachers to watch CCC!’s award winning K-12 core curriculum content anywhere on their iPods. CCC! will also be able to host and broadcast live webcasts of classroom sessions, school sporting events, cultural performances, and professional development that can be watched as they happen or stored for playback.
Cutting edge technology and design gives CCC! Video on Demand Version 2.0 unprecedented flexibility and ease of use. The system’s brand new interface was completely redesigned using AJAX technologies. It looks and feels like a desktop application and is even more intuitive.
Version 2.0 is an open system that allows users to search for and playback CCC! content from an external application such as asset management applications or school and district intranets and portals. This system is also LDAP-compliant for seamless integration with existing user directories.
CCC! Video on Demand 2.0 uses DVD-quality H.264, the standard for high-definition, ensuring picture quality on any size screen.
Another of this flexible system’s new features is “Digital Director,” an enhanced playlist function which will allow teachers to select from more than 40,000 teaching segments from any of CCC!’s titles, and customize their own segments for their curriculum plan. This feature also allows users to add their own school-produced content to the system. Coming soon is “Student Producer,” another exciting feature that will allow students to customize classroom presentations by adding their own music and narration to their selected CCC! content.
CCC! runs on an intranet delivery system that allows for video on demand, with no downloading or buffering. All of CCC!’s core curriculum content was created specifically for the classroom by such leading educational media producers as the Phoenix Learning Group, the Agency for Instructional Television (AIT), National Geographic, and Encyclopedia Britannica, among others. Every title is correlated to state, national and Canadian provincial standards by Plato Learning Systems, and includes teacher’s guides, student activities and comprehension checks.
NDM Vice President and Director of Training Brady Phillips noted, “Bringing tomorrow’s technology into today’s classroom, Version 2.0’s revolutionary new features will allow students to take the classroom with them wherever they go. It maximizes video on demand’s potential as a powerful learning resource for schools.”
