PRINCETON, NJ–December 4, 2006–Waqar Nasim of Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics and leading provider of systems for the management and distribution of data and metadata in digital television streams, will present, “DTV Data Broadcast for Emergency Management Services” at the 9th annual Government Video & Technology Expo.

The presentation will take place on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, during the session titled, “New Applications in Law Enforcement & Emergency Services”. Focusing on state-wide public safety communications through Public TV datacasting, key information to be covered by Nasim’s presentation includes:

*A brief overview of digital television and datacasting

*The emergency response environment

*Information needs within the environment

*A proposed overall system architecture using the Ensignia Emergency Services Network (ESN) solution and

*A case study of the City of Rochester Fire Department’s Emergency Training Information Network (ETIN)

“Secure, uniform, fast and reliable information delivery paths are required between Emergency Services Agencies such as homeland security, fire, police, health, and other first responders. Many types of information, often including large graphically rich content, need to be delivered to the first responders at all sorts of locations, including field disaster sites, post-haste. This information includes emergency alerts, training videos, as well as planning, coordination and operations information,” said Waqar Nasim, Vice President of Finance, Sales, and Operations at Triveni Digital.

Using Triveni Digital’s Ensignia ESN solution, information may be organized, managed and scheduled from centralized locations such as fire or police department headquarters and then distributed in a targeted point to multipoint manner so that only the appropriate locations will receive it. Encryption ensures that only the appropriate recipients can use the information. The end-point applications have been designed to be intuitive and easy to use, so minimal training is required for the personnel.

“Terrestrial DTV is an ideal delivery network for emergency related information, due to its high availability, geographic coverage, broadband wireless connection, and inherent scalability,” continued Nasim. “That said, the Ensignia ESN solution can reliably and securely deliver this information across any broadcast or multicast network, including hybrid networks comprising DTV, satellite, WiMax, fiber, etc.”

The presentation at the Government Video & Technology Expo will outline the advantages of using Ensignia ESN to deliver content to first responders, explain the end-to-end system architecture, and describe the system implemented in Rochester, NY.
