NEW YORK, NY–December 6, 2006 – Defined Mind, Inc., a producer of multi-media literacy and test prep tools, announced today that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Pearson Prentice Hall to publish the third edition of the company’s award-winning book, Vocabulary Accerator01, for the U.S. School market.

Playing to students’ love of music, Vocabulary Accerator01’s songs fuse hip-hop, rock and other genres, working in conjunction with a 15-chapter workbook that builds and reinforces knowledge of more than 300 key vocabulary words found in the songs’ lyrics. As each song’s chapter progresses, students encounter the same words in different contexts, offering multiple opportunities to build their test-taking confidence and literacy skills.

Created by education professionals and musicians, Vocabulary Accerator01 has established itself as an effective and academically certified literacy and ESL/EFL tool. It is included in the Educational Testing Service’s selection of Reading & Writing Resources, and is used by The Department of Education’s Federal TRiO Programs, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, The Police Athletic League, Kaplan Test Prep & Admissions, and many other schools and community organizations around the country.

Winner of the Association of Educational Publisher’s coveted 2006 Golden Lamp Award, VA01 is also Winner of USABookNews’ “Best Books” in the Education/Academic category, and it has placed among the top finishers in the 2006 Writer’s Notes Awards and 2006 The Independent Publisher’s Awards.

“Defined Mind is dedicated to creating teaching tools that resonate with students and encourage their success,” said Keith London, author and Executive Producer, Defined Mind, Inc. “We strive to ensure that young adults are given the single most important key to their futuresliteracy. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the industry’s leader, Pearson Prentice Hall, and I anticipate that we will accomplish a great deal together.”
