An article in the New Jersey Home News Tribune discusses a teachers’ environmental expedition to Costa Rica and how students from a local school district will use high-tech laptops and global positioning systems to monitor their progress virtually. As part of the initiative, students reportedly will conduct virtual experiments on global warming and the environment and compare notes with members of the expedition, the paper said. Teachers also reportedly will use their time overseas to create new lessons to be integrated in classrooms upon their return.
