LONDON, UK — January 10, 2007 — SMART Technologies Inc. announces that more than 1,000 SMART Board interactive whiteboards have now been installed in Kiev classrooms. Achieving this milestone means that at least two SMART Board interactive whiteboards are installed in every public school in Kiev, with some individual schools using as many as eight.

SMART´s Ukrainian distributor, Leater, installs and supports SMART Board interactive whiteboards for Kiev schools. More than 3,000 teachers specializing in technology, information science and language studies have received training, allowing them to develop their own interactive lessons, increase student engagement and share their experiences with colleagues.

"The SMART Board interactive whiteboard helps raise the level of knowledge in my classroom," says Lyudmyla Fedorenko, a Ukrainian language teacher at Kiev´s Podil School No. 100. "It´s very useful and makes my life much easier. It helps me get students´ attention, and encourages them to learn and study with enthusiasm."

"The SMART Board interactive whiteboard is used by more teachers worldwide than all other interactive whiteboard manufacturers combined," says Nancy Knowlton, SMART´s CEO. "The decision by school authorities in Kiev to use SMART products displays their commitment to providing a tech-savvy generation with a competitive edge."
