NEW YORK, NY (January 16, 2007)–The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) has announced that eChalk´s Lesson Planner has been named as a finalist for a Codie Award in the category of "Best K-12 Enterprise Solution."
The Codie Awards recognize outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital information, and education technology industries. Previous Codie Education award winners include Harvard Business School, Blackboard, Educational Testing Service, McGraw-Hill, SchoolNet and Apple Computer.
This year, the SIIA selected the finalists from a record number of submissions, including more than 1,200 nominations representing more than 600 companies. "The 2007 Codie Finalists represent real winners, even at this stage of the contest," said Ken Wasch, SIIA President. "Competition is fiercer than ever and that makes the selection as a Codie Finalist a real achievement."
"We´re very excited to have been selected as a finalist," commented eChalk Co-Founder and President, Torrance Robinson. "Many respected organizations had products and services that were considered, so this distinction is very gratifying and a measure of just how difficult it is for schools to align teacher lessons with state and local standards."
Lesson Planner–the culmination of two years of research, design, and development–makes lesson planning quicker, easier and more useful as a teaching tool. It makes relevant plan information, such as activities, standards and assignments, available to parents and students through eChalk´s online classroom, maximizing the value of the teacher´s hard work. Most importantly, it enables principals to react proactively when a teacher is behind schedule or off course. Many schools throughout the United States have successfully implemented Lesson Planner.
