Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Vernier Networks, the leading supplier of award-winning network access control (NAC) appliances, today announced that it has been awarded a supplier contract with PEPPM, a multi-state technology bidding and purchasing program for local government and education organizations. Vernier will sell its award-winning EdgeWall family of NAC appliances via PEPPM´s streamlined process.
"By eliminating the formal bid process from the purchasing effort, PEPPM allows local government agencies and educational institutions to purchase important NAC security products directly from Vernier faster and easier than before," said Simon Khalaf, president and chief executive officer for Vernier Networks. "As security breaches and data loss continue to dominate headlines, organizations are tightening their controls, and NAC is an ideal solution to monitor users and defend the network against these growing threats."
"Vernier Networks´ NAC solution meets the unique security needs of educational and local government institutions," said Dave Manning, PEPPM coordinator. "PEPPM´s centralized and dynamic program satisfies the unique legal bidding requirements of institutions while providing immediate access to Vernier Network´s EdgeWall NAC appliances."
To demonstrate the company´s strong footprint in the educational market, it will offer a free webcast where IT administrators and others tasked with network security at educational institutions can learn how to secure their network infrastructure from both managed and unmanaged desktops. The webcast will be held on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Representatives from Vernier customers Texas A&M University at Kingston and Lampeter-Strasburg will join Vernier in the webcast entitled "Network Access Control (NAC) Solutions for Educational Institutions." More information and registration can be found at http://www.verniernetworks.com/news/events.html.
Vernier´s Jay Chu will also present at the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference (PETE & C) held Feb. 11-13, 2007, in Hershey, PA. His presentation entitled "The Amazing NAC Race" will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 12:45 p.m. Vernier will also be demonstrating its EdgeWall 8800 capabilities in booth #706.
About Vernier Networks´ NAC Appliances
Vernier offers IT administrators a complete line of EdgeWall NAC appliances that defend networks against intrusions and attacks by screening users and endpoint devices for desktop policy compliance; restrict access to network resources; inspect network and application traffic for worms and viruses; and enforce remediation on infected and out-of-compliance devices. The recently released EdgeWall 8800 is the industry´s first modular high-performance NAC platform to deliver all of the following key security components: wire-speed authenticated and validated access to all users throughout the network; protection from security threats and malicious behavior; continuous compliance inspection; and a fully integrated Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) engine. All of this functionality is delivered for as little as $25 per endpoint–the lowest cost per endpoint of any current NAC solution.
Founded in 1982, PEPPM is a multi-state technology bidding and purchasing program that enables more than 1,000 specified public sector agencies to purchase technology products and software off of centralized, bid-protected contracts from more than 150 vendors representing over 250 product lines. PEPPM provides administrative process effort savings, as well as price advantages, since a central bid reduces paperwork, eliminates specification writing and advertising costs, collapses ordering time and expedites receipt of the items.
