(LINCOLN, Nebraska, January 25, 2007)–The Foundation for Educational Services (FES), a nonprofit organization that provides SOCS–Simplified Online Communication System–to schools and districts, has introduced two new services to help improve online communication for staff and students–SOCSmail and SOCSlockers.

SOCSmail is available for schools that wish to simplify the set-up, administration and maintenance of email communication. It provides a full set of email features and is hosted in a state-of-the-art, redundant facility ensuring virus protection and daily back-up. Individual SOCSmail accounts are equipped with 25MB of storage accessible via IMAP or POP3.

With SOCSlockers, students and teachers can download, store and share electronic files in a web-hosted, password-protected environment. Students can access electronic assignments from school or home, submit homework to teachers´ files and compile an electronic portfolio. Teachers can receive electronic homework files and administer file sharing for group assignments.

FES developed SOCSmail and SOCSlockers based on feedback from current and prospective SOCS clients.

"Hundreds of schools and districts across the country use SOCS to improve online communication with constituents," said FES Vice President Gary Targoff. "Many of those clients–and prospective clients–have expressed a strong need for email and digital locker services to improve communication with staff and students. We´re pleased to meet that need through SOCSmail and SOCSlockers."

Schools and districts interested in more information about SOCS, SOCSmail or SOCSlockers can call 800.850.8397 or visit http://socs.fes.org.
