Science panel calls global warming ‘unequivocal’

The New York Times reports that the leading network of climate scientists has concluded that global warming is “unequivocal,” and that human activity is the main driver of the phenomenon. The scientists said that the planet was in for centuries of rising temperatures and shifting weather patterns–which are the results of the buildup of heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere. The report, released Feb. 2 by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said that global warming and its consequences could be blunted by prompt action.
