REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., February 5, 2007–Oracle today announced the availability of Oracle´s PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0, which will help higher education institutions more effectively manage the entire student lifecycle–from recruiting and admissions to student services and alumni relations–in a flexible, secure environment. The new release will feature more than 130 enhancements.

Today´s higher education institutions face mounting pressure to recruit the best students, retain quality staff, comply with complex regulations and minimize costs. PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 provides higher education institutions with a flexible framework for addressing these challenges, allowing them to implement the modules they need, when they need them, to address their unique challenges. The new release will help institutions improve recruiting, student/alumni relationships and fundraising performance; provide access to personalized, easily navigated information; and enhance data security. It will also improve efficiency through self-service capabilities and the integration between Campus Solutions and PeopleSoft applications for customer relationship management and human resources applications.

In addition, Campus Solutions 9.0 will deliver the first benefits of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) by providing published services around the person model. Specifically, the system uses Web services to access a shared directory of student and employee data and then provides that data to the applications that need it, minimizing data inaccuracies and the need to reenter data.

Adapting to Higher Education Institutions´ Evolving Needs

With Oracle´s PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0, administrators and IT staff have more flexibility in how and when they implement modules to complement other solutions and business processes. Institutions can implement select features based on their specific needs and are not required to implement the entire suite at one time. This flexibility helps accelerate the delivery of new services to students, faculty and staff. For example, Campus Solutions 9.0 features the Enrollment Backpack module, which connects academic advisement to enrollment and allows students to view their academic requirements and current credit status, as well as enroll in classes. Institutions have the option of implementing the full module, defining academic requirements and configuring course lists, or they can proceed with a simpler set-up so they can quickly allow students to gain immediate benefits from the tool if the institution does not need to implement the full advising capability.

PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 also allows institutions to configure features to meet unique, continually changing institutional requirements without costly customizations. For example, the application allows administrators to easily post external awards for financial aid without having to customize the software. In addition, students can log on to manage their financial accounts, including miscellaneous fees, external awards, enrollment in payment plans and lender selection. This functionality provides control, access and flexibility for students, while eliminating manual processes and reducing administrative overhead.

The application provides intuitive, easy-to-use self-service and collaboration capabilities for all users, who can access their personal information through a single launch point–the Student Center, Advisor Center, and/or Faculty Center. These new "Centers" are designed for easy navigation, providing a clear view of up-to-date information, including financial accounts information, course/degree requirements, exam schedules and student rosters, among many other features.

Faculty, advisors, administrators, alumni and IT staff can more easily access the information they need, as well as configure reports and documents to institutional or individual preferences and requirements. Campus Solutions 9.0 integrates with Oracle® XML Publisher to provide a new approach to report design and publishing by incorporating familiar desktop tools with enterprise application reporting. This flexible publishing solution separates the presentation of the report from its data structure, allowing users to extract data from diverse sources and create personalized reports in various formats, including PDF, HTML Web pages and Excel spreadsheets.

Enhancing Insight

New tools within the application suite allow each user to connect pieces of information to the appropriate action the user should take for increased productivity. For example, during enrollment, a student who has outstanding fees would see a link to immediately pay them so he/she can proceed with the class enrollment process without having to exit the enrollment system and then start the process over.

All users have access to and visibility of cohesively integrated content, transactions and collaboration activities. For example, advisors and students can view the same information concurrently. While selecting classes, a student can send an instant message to his/her advisor, who can view the student´s backpack planner, see the class choices available, and immediately provide a recommendation on the most appropriate course for the student.
