Palm Inc. debuted a new handheld computer, the Palm TX, that features both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless capabilities and a large, high-resolution color screen. Priced at $299, the device reportedly allows users to download, view, and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files; browse the web; read electronic books; check eMail; and synchronize eMail messages and calendars on the handheld with those on a desktop computer, among other features. Palm also announced that more than 7,000 students in eight Oregon school systems are using Palm handheld computers in their classrooms this school year.
