Sophos looks to lock up school market with new K-12 security program

To help schools and districts manage the onslaught of spam and destructive viruses that come with internet connectivity, Sophos Inc. has created a new K-12 education program that combines flexible pricing, discounts of up to 30 percent, and unlimited technical support for its anti-virus and anti-spam products. Sophos PureMessage is an eMail management solution that helps school leaders set proactive internal controls that allow them to define, configure, monitor, and enforce their message-handling policies, enabling full compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). The company’s anti-virus solutions adapt to the vast majority of computing environments, such as Macintosh (including OS X), Windows, Novell Netware, Linux, and Unix, making them a logical choice for educational institutions. With an extensive list of supported platforms, Sophos enables schools with limited budgets to leverage existing hardware investments without having to upgrade. In addition to providing a free evaluation of its products, Sophos also offers guides to teach students and staff members how to keep from getting viruses and bolster computer security.
