WASHINGTON–The German University Liaison Offices and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), are pleased to announce that Congressman Vernon Ehlers and former Congressman Sherwood Boehlert will address an international conference, "Knowledge Transfer in the 21st Century," on February 15, 2007. The Washington, D.C. conference will explore the future prospects for competitiveness in the knowledge-based economy of tomorrow from a transatlantic perspective and work to form comprehensive policy strategies in an increasingly globalized world.
The German University Liaison offices represent 39 German universities, as well as universities of applied sciences, and research institutes from ten German federal states. They fill an important missing link between the relations and interests of the German and American academic landscapes. Working within and expanding the complex web of partnerships between German and American universities and research centers, the liaison offices promote knowledge transfer and cooperation, both between higher education and the private sector and across the Atlantic.
The Woodrow Wilson Center was established as a living memorial to Woodrow Wilson in 1968. As a nonpartisan research center on international political, economic, and security relations, the Wilson Center seeks to provide a common ground where groundbreaking scholars and policymakers can work together to solve public policy challenges.
