SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, www.hitachi.us, February 12, 2007 –Reinforcing the networking functionality and ease of use of Hitachi America LCD projectors, the Shoreline School District in Washington has installed approximately 400 Hitachi CP-X255 LCD projectors throughout its schools on the K-12 level. Sold through Troxell Communications, the projectors were part of a larger multimedia package that includes document cameras and powered loudspeakers.
Located north of Seattle, the Shoreline School District serves the communities of Shoreline and Lake Forest Park with 9,700 students throughout the District. Shoreline students consistently score above the state and national averages on standardized tests and nearly 85 percent of the students who graduate from Shoreline schools pursue post-secondary education. Of the districts 615 teachers, about 70 percent hold masters degrees and one-third have taught for 15 years or more.
As a District that prides itself on providing its students and teachers with cutting-edge technology, Shoreline chose to upgrade its presentation systems. "Shoreline has traditionally enjoyed a high level of technology access," said Jim Golubich, director of instructional technology, Shoreline School District. "We provided laptops to each of our middle school and high school students last year and we needed some other tools available for the instructors."
Shoreline School District chose the Hitachi CP-X255 LCD projectors for their advanced networking capabilities, among other features. The CP-X255 LCD projector features an RJ-45 ethernet port, allowing for network control, maintenance and scheduling. Additionally, the CP-X255 has a brightness of 2,000 ANSI lumens with a 400:1 contrast ratio. It is equipped with vertical keystone correction, reverse image function for ceiling mount, progressive scan, and Hitachis My Screen feature.
"The ability to monitor various maintenance issues from a single location was a major priority when choosing a projector," Mr. Golubich added. "We also wanted a projector that would connect easily to the students laptops, so the connectivity options and networking of the CP-X255 provided us with those advantages."
Since installing the projectors, teachers and technical staff alike have enjoyed the versatility of the CP-X255. "The teachers have really embraced the technology and they have given up traditional overhead projectors," said Jason Maher, video/computer technician, Shoreline School District. "The PJMan software has allowed us to monitor lamp life and filter usage and we have schedules set up that automatically turn off the projectors at the end of the day."
