NORTHRIDGE, CALIFORNIA, February 15, 2007 — Demonstrating its commitment to providing tools that make it exceptionally easy for customers to
utilize its products, JBL Professional has introduced the new Ceiling Speaker Configurator (CSC) software. The CSC software quickly identifies the appropriate JBL in-ceiling loudspeaker models and system design for any
environment depending on a few simple parameters.
"The CSC software was designed to be a useful tool for a wide variety of users. For example, it is an ´enabling technology´ for those who may not have a lot of audio experience in designing distributed in-ceiling loudspeaker systems," said Rick Kamlet, Director of Marketing, Commercial Sound, JBL Professional. "The CSC software enables them to provide their customers with an accurate and
reliable audio system.
"At the same time," Kamlet continued, "CSC software can also help experienced audio professionals quickly identify the most economic ceiling speaker model to achieve the desired music level, or to produce enough sound level
for adequate paging intelligibility."
The CSC software is the first computer program that allows users to input the characteristics of a venue in layman´s terms and immediately receive a ceiling speaker design in return. For music systems, they simply enter the kind of background or foreground music desired. For paging systems, they enter what kind of activity is taking place. Lastly, they provide the floor space and ceiling height. From there, the CSC software does the rest, offering up to three appropriate JBL in-ceiling loudspeaker models for the space, where to tap them (if it´s a 70V/100V system), how many to use, how far apart to space them, and the maximum volume available with each particular design.
To take the design to the next level of sophistication, such as identifying specific
speaker locations or using tighter layout densities, a knowledgeable professional
can use JBL´s free-download Distributed System Design (DSD) software after their CSC design to further refine the system.
The CSC software includes all JBL Professional in-ceiling loudspeaker models, from the small Control 24C Micro to the powerhouse Control 322CT, so it is useful for venues ranging from low background music to medium/high nightclub levels, and/or paging in venues ranging from doctors´ offices to bowling alleys.
The CSC also features a Subwoofer Calculator that identifies the number of inceiling subwoofers necessary for either "Extended Bass" or "Superior Extended Bass" applications.
